Until
visiting We Care, I don’t think I had ever heard anyone in construction
say, “We’re a month ahead of schedule.”
Surely that’s a God thing!
Thanks to faithful volunteers and capable, dependable inmates, the
beautiful new We Care building is nearing completion.
The driveway and parking areas were paved while I was there, and
the project manager expects to paint inside next week.
The original target date for moving into the new facility was late
July 2007.
All indications are the building will be ready for occupancy in
late June or early July.
It’s apparent to everyone involved that the Lord is blessing a
ministry close to His heart.

Two
volunteers have remained in Atmore for the long haul and are playing a
significant role in keeping construction ahead of schedule.
Mike
Enright, originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, brings expertise in
electrical work but also lends a hand wherever needed.
Free time often finds Mike and his two dogs fishing, and his catch
sometimes graces the We Care table.
Dean
Miller from Arthur, Illinois, was busy putting up what looked like miles
of soffits while I was in Atmore.
The We Care Crusade last year and a short-term mission trip to
Ghana helped foster a heart for service, and Dean is in his second term as
a construction volunteer.
