All of us at Powhatan Mennonite Church have the privilege of prayer and in a sense are members of the Prayer Team.  We will be calling on different ones throughout the year as God calls us to certain tasks.

Current Activities:  Men at Prayer are meeting each Saturday morning at 7:00. Prayer was emphasized during the month of January with prayer meetings held throughout the week and Sunday morning scriptures and messages relating to prayer. The congregation watched "The Prayers of Jesus" DVD on Wednesday nights throughout the month of January and was encouraged to pray for each family throughout the month by using a prayer guide put together by Pres Nowlin.  Wayne and Connie Lancaster are praying daily for our Pastor and his family and for prayer requests shared on Sunday mornings.  Martha Bowles, Janet Habel, Peggy Leeth, and Dorcas Schaefer are in our Prayer card ministry and are sending cards concerning Sunday morning sharing and prayer requests. Debbie Vaughn and Poe Powell are helping with the Prayer Chain.  We are currently meeting every second and fourth Wednesday night during March, April, and May to watch a DVD series entitled "When God's People Pray," by Jim Cymbala.  We have three prayer groups following the DVD which include general prayer,  workplace/co-workers, and prodigal/restoration. We invite suggestions and ideas on promoting prayer in our fellowship. What a blessing to pray to our Father!

"Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power and the glory,

The victory and the majesty, for all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours.

Yours is the Kingdom, O Lord, and You are exalted as head over all.

Both riches and honor come from You, and You reign over all.

In Your hand is power and might: In Your hand it is to make

great and to give strength to all.

Now therefore, our God we thank you and praise Your glorious name."

1 Chronicles 29: 11 -13
