As we start a new year with the youth, we are very excited about the opportunities and possibilities that the future holds. At our first meeting, I shared some thoughts with the youth, that as youth leaders we desire to be the foundation for our Youth Group this year.

Proverbs 16:3, says "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed."

One thing that became clear to us was that we do not have what it takes to do this on our own. We have committed to God the work that we have undertaken and ask that you pray for us as leaders and for the youth of our congregation.

I also spoke with the youth about trust. Proverbs 3:5-6 reads, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths." We have put our trust in God and are confident that He will show us the direction that He would have us lead the youth this year. We also understand and appreciate the trust that you as parents have put in us. We will do our best to honor that trust.

The youth leaders and several of the youth are meeting soon to make plans for the next few months. We are asking for your help as we make these plans. We would like to know how you would like to be involved with the youth this year. There will be many opportunities for you to join with us in serving the youth of our congregation. Would you like to host a youth life night? How about providing transportation to and from meetings and activities. Would you like to lead a Bible Study, join us on a hike or a camp out? Would you be willing to watch the children of someone who is helping with the youth? These are just some ideas to help get your mind going. Let us know how you would like to help this year.
