Update from Sheila Schaefer...

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Powhatan,

Greetings from the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.  It's a cool and breezy but absolutely breathtaking evening as I sit here at this picture window looking out over a panoramic view of the woods ablaze with fall colors.  I'm so thankful to know Whom to credit for all this beauty!

I can honestly say that I feel at home here already.  I know it is because of the precious presence of God and the joy of knowing I am where he wants me to be.  I have been seeking a closer relationship with Him for a long time but was unable to get there for some reason.  But up here on this mountain, under the discipleship of the Morgans, I have found my calling. I have found what my heart has been seeking these many years, and that is intimate communion with Father God, finally getting to the place of becoming nothing so that He can become everything in and through me.

I want somehow to convey to everyone the full scope of this call on my life, but how do I do that?  I can give you all the logistics of what I do here, but that doesn't come close to describing what I'm becoming. And that's where the real power of God is working right now.

As I shared before I left, I am working for Faith Family in various areas. I have pulled weeds, spread mulch, mowed grass, folded brochures, collated, stapled and cut numerous “Inn Keepers” (our bi-monthly news publication), even writing the article for the “HealthPoint” in the latest issue.  I help with the cooking and cleaning and even lend a hand on the new cabin being built; running the wiring and staining the exterior.  Also, I was Toni's righthand woman in preparing for the Fall Supporter's Banquet, held on November 10.

God has a design for my life that requires absolute surrender of myself to His will and His way in my life.  It is His desire for me to be so yielded to His spirit that He himself will be living in and through me.  While part of my ministry here at Faith Family is to be a help and encouragement to the Morgans, God's focus is on my mission,  learning to be a teachable disciple, yielded not only to the guidance of His Holy Spirit but also to the wisdom and knowledge He has given Bill and Toni through the many years they have faithfully served Him and spent in His presence and His Word.  I covet your prayers in this journey and thank those of you who have sent notes, cards and assurance of your thoughts and prayers.

I will do my best to correspond with you as it's needed. For right now I do not have access to my own e-mail because there is no phone or internet service to my cabin.  I have chosen to keep it that way because I am enjoying the solitude as I concentrate my time and attention seeking the height, depth and width of the love God has for me.

People are coming to Faith Family Ministries on a regular basis to seek God’s guidance and healing as well as the emotional and spiritual help the ministry offers. And God continues to win over the enemy in so many lives. Please pray for all of us as we seek to be empty vessels through which God can pour out His Love and mercy to all who come here.

May God be real and mighty in the fellowship there, drawing each of you closer to Him as you walk by the power of His Spirit.

By God's grace,

Sheila
