Spiritual Ministries

The basic purpose of our educational/spiritual ministry is to provide knowledge of God through His Word, as provided in the Bible. Without this knowledge, we could not truly worship God. Sunday School classes are provided for all age groups from nursery through adult classes.

  • Powhatan Mennonite Youth and Junior Youth Fellowships - To provide the youth of the congregation with an opportunity to develop Christian character. Membership in the Youth includes all high school youth who have reached the age of 14 and Jr. youth  members are ages 12-13.

  • Girls' & Boys'  Club- To assist in the Christian growth of our girls and boys, ages 8 through 12.

  • Annual Vacation Bible School - To aid children in their spiritual growth.

    •   Upcoming date:  June 22-26, 2009

  • Church Library - To provide constructive literature for life enrichment resources for study of the Bible

  • Prayer Chain - Organized for the purpose of interceding with God for the needs of  the congregation and others.

  • Women’s Outreach- To encourage women in their unique mission and service giftings in the life of the local church, the community, and links to the broader, church-wide women’s outreach ministries. The women meet the second Tuesday of each month during the day to quilt and  make items for the annual Virginia Relief Sale,  which benefits Mennonite Central Committee (MCC);  the women also respond to needs in the church and community. There  also are  times of Bible study and fellowship luncheons.

  • Men's Prayer and Bible Study - Meet each Saturday morning at 7 a.m. at the church for fellowship, Bible study and prayer.
