Tim Kennell continued his
series on the “Invisible Man.” He
pointed to Adam who was hiding – trying to make himself invisible to God
because he had disobeyed God – sinned – by eating of the fruit of the
tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
He asked the question,
“Are men hiding from God and one another because of sin in our lives?”
Hiding does not have to take place behind a tree or in a closet; we
can seek to hide by refusing Christian fellowship, by not confessing our
sins to one another or by pretending “Everything’s all right, thank
you.” Confession is a key for
our Christian life – confession to our Father (1 John 1:9) and to one
another (James 5:16).
Tim also questioned the
reluctance of men to take leadership roles in our church and be a part of
small groups. Are we holding
back because we have sin in our lives?
In closing, we asked the
question, “What platform do we men have for confessing our sins to one
another?” This is an area for
further discussion and prayer.
We had one special guest at
the breakfast, Howard Cooper, pastor of Pine Grove Baptist Church on Worsham
Road.
