Oh happy day that fixed my choice
On Thee my Saviour and my God!
Well may this glowing heart rejoice,
And tell its raptures all abroad.
Happy day, happy day, When Jesus washed my sins away;
He taught me how to watch and pray, And live rejoicing
every day:
Happy day, happy day, when Jesus washed my sins away.
These simple words were penned by an exuberant Philip
Doddridge in 1755, and today they still ring clear with the heartfelt joy
of experiencing the cleansing water of baptism.
Oh happy bond that seals my vows
To Him who merits all my love;
Let cheerful anthems fill His house,
While to that sacred shrine I move.
Today eight young people were baptized into the
family of God. What a day of rejoicing it is for our congregation as we
nurture, encourage, admonish and teach these tender young lives. What an
awesome responsibility, challenge and JOY !!!
‘Tis done, the great transaction’s done;
I am my Lord’s and He is mine.
He drew me and I followed on,
Charmed to confess the voice divine. Witnessing
baptism always reminds me of that day when I publicly confessed my sin and
made those same solemn vows to faithfully serve God. It causes me to pause
and reflect on my own spiritual pilgrimage.
High heaven that heard the solemn vow,
That vow renewed shall daily hear,
Till in life’s latest hour I bow,
And bless in death a bond so dear.Rachel Brenneman,
Joshua Habel, John Paul Iazzi, Matthew Lehman, Timothy Nice, Philip
Palmore, Steven Pruett and John Schlosser, welcome to the family of God.
