Sheila
Schaefer Leaves To Join Faith Family Ministries
In a move that surprised many of us in PMC, the Lord has called
Sheila Schaefer to join the work at Faith Family Ministries in Blue Ridge,
Georgia. Sheila has faithfully
served us as daughter, sister, aunt, church secretary, friend, and sister
in the Lord. She was the first
person to serve in the church secretary position.
Sheila became acquainted with Faith Family Ministries through Donna
Wyatt, whose sister and husband, Toni and Bill Morgan, are founders and
co-workers in the ministry. In
a visit there in July, Sheila fell in love with the place, the work and
the Morgans, and the Morgans responded in kind.
They offered Sheila the job of caring for the facilities and
gardens and the opportunity to train in counseling..
Sheila’s decision was not long in coming as she recognized the
Lord’s call to serve there and was blessed by the opportunity.
On
Wednesday, September 5, Paul and Helen Brenneman and Janet Benson took
Sheila and her belongings to Blue Ridge and continued from there to
Wetumpka, Alabama, to deliver Donna Wyatt and her belongings so she could
begin her work with We Care Program ministries.
Sheila and Donna have been roommates for fourteen years but are
willing to interrupt that relationship to answer the Lord’s call on
their lives.
Faith Family
Ministries has been serving couples and individuals for twenty-eight years
through counseling and offering a lovely place that invites clients to
rest. Bill Morgan earned his
doctorate at New Orleans Baptist Seminary, and his degree gives him a
strong academic background for family ministries.
But the degree is only the third qualification he brings to the
ministry. He and Toni are
close followers of Jesus, and they have experienced God’s grace over and
over in their lives. Their
walk and their experience provide a strong foundation for ministry.
Sheila will be
serving in facilities maintenance, and we can see by the improvements in
our church yard how her touch will maintain the already beautiful
Restoration Retreat, as the Morgans call their center in the Blue Ridge
Mountains of Georgia. The
facility covers nine acres of land and includes the lodge and a guest
cabin. Sheila will also assist
in writing and formatting “The Inn Keeper,” Faith Family’s
bi-monthly publication.
Faith Family Ministries
maintains a web site, www.faithfamily.net,
and more can be learned of their work at their site.
