 Summer is almost here!   School Days are coming to an end!!  Do we hear a cheer?  Grab a good book for those lazy days and evenings when the daylight is extended, or even during a break from chores.

Children:

Esmeralda and the Pet Parade by Cecile Schoberle, a wonderful fictional southwestern flavored tale about a young boy named Juan and his pet goat that was always in trouble.  Juan’s Grandfather lends the friendship, wisdom, and love that Juan needs to enable Juan to gain confidence and discover a key lesson concerning friendship.

 Stories Worth ReReading is a collection of stories about home, life, school, missionary experiences, and “incidents of history” to supply young folks with stories truly worth reading and rereading.

 Bird Life in Wington is a treasury of stories with birds as characters; the stories teach about human life and human frailties and Christian living with humorous insight.

 Truth Slayers: The Battle of Right from Wrong, by Josh McDowell and Bob Hostetler,  is a novel for teens.  Brittney and her friends must learn about the world they live in and the choices that have to daily make.  This book is written to assist youth in uncovering the truth and enabling them to make right moral choices.

 The Candymaker’s Gift is a legendary type tale pertaining to the creation of the candycane providing an inspirational storyline including the gospel message for children.

 Adults:

Return to the Hiding Place, by Hans Poley, is an exciting autobiographical and biographical account of the first fugitive and other “guests” that found refuge in the Ten Boom’s hiding place.

 In Harmony with Creation: Seeking God’s Face in Mennonite Camping 1980-2005 is a great resource published by the Mennonite Camping Association which continues telling the story of Mennonite camping in Canada and the United States providing stories of the people and camps to encourage, motivate, and inspire.  This volume provides names, locations and much more on Mennonite Camping facilities in the U.S. and Canada.

 Selected to Live, by Johanna Ruth Dobschiner, is a dramatic autobiographical account of a young German Jewish girl forced to flee with her family to Holland.  She is the only member of her family who survives, as she is selected to live through an amazing chain of events whereby she becomes a believer.
