Library nook

During the past several months the Powhatan Mennonite Church Library has added a number of new items for your enjoyment.

Three new items for our youngest group are:

· Make a Joyful Noise—A CD with many children’s Bible songs favorites: producer, Kim Thompson;

· Uncle Walt’s Christmas Box by Art Boeken—a cute story of Uncle Walt and his favorite niece and nephew.  Uncle Walt invites them in for a cup of hot chocolate.  A trip to the attic rewards the three with the box of Christmas Nativity figures, which brings about the relating of “The Christmas Story.”

· Big Enemy, Bigger God! by Marilyn Lashbrook, relates the story of Gideon and how he followed God’s orders and God saved his chosen people from their enemies despite the overwhelming numbers in the enemy camp.

Other additions include:

· A video, Babylon, Past, Present, and Future, by Plain Truth Ministries illustrates the history of Babylon using Biblical text, other historical documents and archaeological findings.

· Time Warped by Steve Ganger approaches the subject of our time stewardship.

· God’s Written Word by J.C. Wenger is an older Mennonite classic donated to our library.  It contains essays on the nature of Biblical revelation, inspiration, and authority.

· Fire in the Zurich Hills by Joseph Stoll is an historical novel featuring the story of the first Anabaptists in Zurich, Switzerland.

· Hidden Sorrow, Lasting Joy by Anneke Companjen, is the true story of many women from different countries in the persecuted church.

· Family Man by Dale Buss, is a biography of Dr. James Dobson, founder of the Focus on the Family Ministry, and author of many Christian books to assist Christians in raising healthy Christian families.

· Created to be His Help Meet by Debi Pearl, is an inspiring book written to assist women in becoming the Godly wives that Proverbs 31 and other passages in the New Testament describe.

   It’s winter time; time to curl up and rediscover how good reading a book can be!
