Keeping
In Touch...Ed and Doris Ranck

The
last piece of chicken was skinned and ready to go into the marinade. The
twelve quarts of potato salad were carefully stored in the refrigerator
and the next item on the list was the nine pies. Extra beds were made and
floors were washed and vacuumed. This was all about getting ready for the
July staff day and Board meeting. Because staff family pictures were to be
taken in the morning, both lunch and supper were served.
Staff
days are an important part of We Care. The various chaplains and
assistants and their families gather in to Atmore from Birmingham,
Montgomery and Florida for a time of spiritual input, prayer, fellowship
and food. It is a relaxing day for them and an exhausting one for me. But
there is a real sense of fulfillment that comes from seeing the
“extended family” gather around the table, sharing and caring, and
also discussing which kind of pie is the best choice!

The
work at We Care is not all done on the “front line” of attack. A lot of it
is done at the kitchen stove and washing machine, around the home schooling
table or behind the secretary’s desk. As one of the staff working behind the
scenes, I have experienced a real sense of peace and satisfaction in doing what
God has called me to do.
Thank
you, our church family, for your continued support of our ministry. Please pray
for health, and strength and wisdom to accomplish the tasks before us.
Because of Jesus,
Doris for both of us
