Keeping In Touch.... Dorothy Powell

To My Church Family at Powhatan,

It has been nearly a year since I moved from my home of forty-plus years to Park Village at VMRC, Harrisonburg.  I have experienced many changes and challenges but can testify to the faithfulness of God and His provision and care.  I am surrounded by so many good Christian friends that I have felt quite secure and blessed.

The residents of the Village gather every Wednesday morning for coffee hour and a time for fellowship with a short devotional period in which those with special needs are remembered in prayer. Caring friends is an organization at VMRC in which I participate by visiting regularly a lady who recently lost her husband.  Each week I meet with a young Korean mother to help her with her English under the direction of the Skyline Literacy program.

Soon after my arrival here I began attending the Lindale Mennonite Church.  There I received a warm welcome especially from the many persons I knew from the Newport News area.

I recently joined a small group that meets every other week for Bible study and prayer. There is a good group of single ladies and widows here who like to go out to eat.  I enjoy the Lindale women’s group which meets monthly for sewing much like I experienced in Powhatan.

I have felt led to transfer my membership from Powhatan and was recently formally accepted as a member at Lindale.  Powhatan church will always have a special place in my heart and I miss each one of you and the warm fellowship there.  I welcome any of you to visit me at 1248 Shank Drive, Harrisonburg, VA  22802
