Keeping In Touch .... From a Young Brave in North Country
As the young brave was still in the land of the deep snow, he meet a young woman. She made him very happy and encouraged him to seek the Great Spirit more. After many moons had passed, the young brave and woman began to court. The young brave was very thankful to the Great Spirit for sending him such a good woman. Along with such a good blessing, the young brave felt the Great Spirit wanted him to go on a spiritual quest at the hunting grounds of Rosedale. The young brave is making plans to go at the time when the moon is gone, and the snow is deep. He plans to stay for one and a half moons. So with all these new adventures planned, the young brave prays that the Great Spirit will give wisdom and knowledge of how to handle such great gifts. He also asks that his home tribe will back him in prayers to the Great Spirit. May the Great Spirit bless you all, Andy Powell August 2003 Note: Andy will be finishing up his two years of service at Stormer Lake in December, 2003. Continue to pray for him as he seeks God’s direction for his life.
******************* Blessings from the Sells We happened recently to meet Glen Sell at ROOTS, a market near East Petersburg. He sends greetings of love and God’s blessing to all his friends at Powhatan. He and Ethel are beginning their second year operating his father’s booth at the market. He appears in good health and has recovered remarkably from his illness. PTL! -Ray and Betty Hertzler- Note: Ray and Betty enjoyed a Mennonite Your Way Tour of the north to the south of Eastern Texas April 1-15. They traveled to PA where they joined their bus group. When they arrived back in PA, they went to a local market to purchase some "goodies" where they met Glen. ********************** Email from Jean Biehn

April 2, 2003 Hellloooooo from Indiana: We moved to Indiana last summer for Bill's dairy work.
Grayson was already living in northern Indiana, and he just got engaged. He
plans on being married in a year. He works in a Mitsubishi dealership, repairing
cars. Molly is still in college in Potsdam, NY, and will graduate next year with
double majors and double minors. She has done really well. Larkin will go to
Indiana University , starting this summer, soon after graduation from high
school. She has been accepted in one program that will pay for all 4 years and
is a semi-finalist (we won't know the results for a few more weeks) for 2 other
scholarships that would pay her whole way. She will major in linguistics and
minor in writing. Anna is a high school freshman, just turned 15 last week,
doing really well here, too, and plans on a career in law, perhaps teaching law.
Jacob joined the army after graduation, for college $$, and because he has
always wanted to be in the military. He trained at Fort Benning in Georgia and
then was assigned to Ft. Bragg, NC. He was shot in February in a training
exercise about 2 weeks after he arrived in Kuwait. One bullet tore through the
artery in his left thigh and another destroyed his right wrist and forearm.
After operations in Kuwait and Germany, he has been in Walter Reed Hospital in
Washington. We went to see him early in March, and then he came home for 10
days. He left last Thursday to go back to Washington to the hospital, and today
he has another operation on his arm, taking bone from his hip and inserting that
bone and more rods in his arm. He has a long recuperation ahead of him, but he
is one of the lucky ones. He was a paratrooper, from the 82nd Airborne, 3/325th.
The army staff (officers, wives, doctors) have been unbelievably kind and
caring, praying for Jacob, calling us often from Kuwait, Ft. Bragg, Washington,
etc., to make sure we knew how he was and who was with him all the time. One of
the chaplains in Germany stayed with him in the operating room during his
surgery. It has been unbelievable. Molly comes home for a week on Saturday, and we are looking
forward to that. Then Peter's father comes for a few days on the following week,
which should be fun, although I am not sure what I will do with him for a
week!!!! Peter's mom died a couple of years ago.) We started planting our garden a couple of weeks ago (It is
good to be in the South again) and have peas, lettuce and spinach coming up. I
am still spinning/knitting/ felting/weaving/dollmaking--and teaching spinning to
children, and enjoying this lovely area of Indiana--Brown County. We have a tiny
Mennonite Church here that Bill and Anna attend, the Bean Blossom Mennonite
Church! We will keep in touch, and please keep Jacob in your prayers..... Love, Jean
