Isabel’s Fury -Our Stories-
The tornado that roared like a freight train through Amelia at 5:30 a.m. four days after the storm awakened Dale and Martha Bowles, causing them to seek shelter in the hallway of their home. They were grateful for God’s protection and suffered no damage. Church services at PMC on Sunday morning following the storm were held outside even though the electricity came on during the early morning hours. The youth group cleaned up branches and removed several trees that had fallen in Auldine McKinney’s yard. Bill Schaefer lost some very large, old trees in his subdivision. He counted the rings from two of the largest trees that fell and they had 90+ rings each. There was also a huge oak knocked down in the woods next to where they are building a pond. It was so large that it would take three adults, arms extended, holding hands to get all the way around the circumference. |
