Evening on the Lawn - 2009

        We held the event Sunday evening, September 27, 5:30-7:30 PM.  It was an absolutely beautiful evening with a mild breeze.  It was perfect weather after having 3.4 inches of rain on Friday and Saturday.  Brett Klingenberg was our warm-up and he started playing and singing at 5:15.  At 5:35 Pastor Tim introduced Brett and Daphna Creek from Harrisonburg . Daphna gave two 40 minute performances with Brett doing 20 minutes during their break.

            Brett honored Gene’s 60^th birthday at the beginning of his second session.  He called Gene to the stage with Ryan who was wearing a T-shirt with a IH tractor that said, “Like grandpa-like grandson”.  Ryan gave his grandpa a T-shirt that said, “Crops are green, tractors are red!”  He had everyone sing “Happy Birthday” and then he sang “Thank God, I’m A Country Boy”.

            We had approximately 200 people.  We started serving Bruster’s ice-cream, toppings, popcorn and lemonade soon after the program began.  It was a fun evening, enjoyed by all.  We are looking forward to next year!
