New District Formed in VA Conference

Action was taken at the Warwick District/Norfolk District joint meeting on May 16, 2006 to merge and form one district. This new district was officially formed and will be called, Eastern District of Virginia Mennonite Conference. The reason for the merger was because of the recent departure of a church in the Chesapeake, VA area leaving Norfolk District with only one church  (Mt. Pleasant Mennonite Church).

Nathan’s Summer Adventure

I’m going south for the summer!  Yes, I know.  You’re supposed to go south for the winter, not for the summer, but that’s the plan.  It all started when I found out I needed a summer internship as a qualification for my degree at Longwood University.  It had to be at least six weeks of on-the-job experience in my field of computer information management systems.  I found out about the JAARS internship program by reading testimonies written by previous interns on the internet.  Their experiences sounded really interesting, so I sent in my application and was eventually accepted!  JAARS (Jungle Aviation and Radio Service) is a nonprofit organization that provides technical/computer services to Wycliffe Bible Translators.  I will be working on a team of about four people at JAARS writing help files for some of their language translation software programs or writing training manuals for their software.  I will be down at JAARS in Waxhaw, NC from May 14 until July 13.  Pray for me as I find out what God has for me in North Carolina this summer!
