Dan Althouse Answers Call to Pastorate

In December of 2003, the Marietta Community Chapel, Marietta, PA called Dan to serve as full–time pastor.  The planned installation service was set for January 18th.  Gene & Pat Hertzler and Ed & Doris Ranck traveled to PA to attend the service and to bring greetings and blessings from the Powhatan congregation.  The Hertzlers traveled to PA on Saturday afternoon and were able to outrun the brunt of the storm.  The Rancks traveled later in the evening on Saturday and spent the night in Leesburg.  The next morning they continued on, but the roads became so treacherous they finally had to stop in York and get a motel.

It was a difficult decision for the congregation, but the Sunday afternoon installation services were cancelled and rescheduled for February 8th.  Louie and Helen attended this service, and Louie brought the installation message.

Dan has sensed a real call from the church at Marietta to serve with them in ministering to the community.  In numerous ways the church reminds him of the fellowship here at Powhatan and is about the same size.

The Althouses are looking forward to what God has planned for this stage of their lives.  Linda was able to transfer to a another branch of the bank where she works as a teller.  For the present time they have rented a townhouse several miles from the church.

Krista and Steve are continuing to live in the house in Reading until it is sold.  Tim and Melody live in Washington, DC and are a part of a new church planting.  They are expecting their first child in August.
