Community: Rural in flavor with rapid home and business growth. Powhatan is located 15 miles west of Richmond, Virginia and the north edge is 8 miles south of Interstate 64. The county is rich in native Virginia history. Charlottesville is 1 hour to the west, Williamsburg/Jamestown 1 hour to the east and the Richmond airport is 45 miles to the east. Powhatan is bordered on the north side by the James River and on the south by the Appomattox.
