On Saturday, August 16, 2003, at 7 o’clock PM, Jaime
Melissa Carnahan and Jon Michael Ranck were united in marriage at Powhatan
Christian Fellowship in Powhatan, Virginia. The bride is the daughter of
Edward and Linda Carnahan. The groom is the son of Edwin and Doris Ranck
and the grandson of Phoebe Ranck, all of Powhatan.
Beth McCrodden was maid of honor and Jennifer Bremmer
and Cory Reed were bridesmaids; all friends of the bride. Flower girl was
Grace Allen and Tiffany Tilman was ring bearer. Brian Ranck served as his
brother’s best man and friends of the groom, Andy Powell and Nathaniel
Chaffins, were groomsmen. Terry Schrock, cousin of the groom, and Scott
Tilman, friend of the groom were ushers.
The ceremony was officiated by Russell Cress, pastor of
Powhatan Christian Fellowship and by Timothy Kennell, pastor of Powhatan
Mennonite Church.
After a reception held in the church’s fellowship
hall, the bridal couple left in the groom’s John Deere 4050 tractor.
Following a honeymoon to the Smokey Mountains and the Outer Banks of North
Carolina, the couple will be at home at 89 Boston Hill Rd., Cartersville,
Va. 23037.
The bride is a 2000 graduate of the College of William
and Mary and is the owner of Critter Crazy Pet Shop in Powhatan. The groom
attended J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College and is the owner of
Piedmont Farm Services. |

Amanda Fretz and Andrew Powell have announced their
engagement.
Since August of 2001, Andy has been serving a term of
service at Stormer Lake, Ontario, Canada. The first Sunday he attended
church after arriving at Stormer Lake was a commissioning service for
Amanda as she prepared to leave for a year of service in China. It wasn’t
until Amanda arrived home that Andy got to met the "other
daughter" of Keith and Debbie Fretz. Andy is the son of Sam and Susan
Powell, Powhatan, VA.
Amanda is attending Rosedale this year and Andy will
attend for a six-weeks term beginning in January.
The wedding will be held July 31, 2004, in Red Lake. A
reception will be held at a later date in Powhatan. |

Obe and Jill Hostetter are happy to announce the birth
of their daughter, Karla Grace, September 17, 2003, at 12:58 PM. Karla
weighed 7 lbs. 11 oz. and was 18-1/2 inches long.
Grandparents are Gene and Pat Hertzler of Powhatan, and
Darrel and Sherill Hostetter of Lancaster, PA.

Did You Know....
Congratulations to the men’s
softball team on winning the Lower Division championship in the county church
softball league. Team players: Gene Schaefer, captain, Dale Benson, Don Benson,
Steve Graber, Gene Hertzler, John-Paul Iazzi, Ivan Lehman, Vernon Moyer, Miles
Pruett, Aaron Schaefer, and Jack Wilson. In all the years of playing ball, this
is the first time for winning the championship.
Rick and Rebecca Benson are collecting Campbell's labels and
Box Tops for Education for their school, Amelia Academy. There is a Campbell’s
can in the secondary auditorium for both the labels and box tops.
Bob and Marie Hertzler celebrated their 50th
wedding anniversary on October 12 with family their cabin on the James
River.
