A Tribute to My Wife Written by Wallace Schaefer as a tribute to his wife of 48 years, Dorcas. Married June 8, 2000
When I became a teenager, girls began to interest me, I began looking at them closely, perhaps as my bride to be.
As I made my rounds and dated more than one, They were hard to understand but they were fun.
When I became serious, choosing one for life, I wasn’t getting anywhere, finding a suitable wife.
I prayed to God, "You know better than I, I need a wife badly," to God I dare not lie.
I didn’t act grown up, and I sure wasn’t handsome and tall, But I was normal in wanting to marry, God made me that way after all.
God could work it out, but time was not on hold, My teens seemed long gone; I’d soon be getting old.
Suddenly, there she was, so pleasing to the eye, She seemed to like me, a mystery as to why.
As we spent time together, I observed and began to see, She doesn’t have any flaws; she is different from me.
After being married all these years (it seems like yesterday), She hasn’t changed at all; she’s still that way.
She’s a mother, a lover, my best friend, I know we’ll be together until the very end.
She’s my willing helper while working this sod, She’s an angel made in heaven, on loan from God.
