Did You Know...

· Ray and Betty Hertzler, along with family members, helped with dry wall and painting in an MDS house at Poquoson, VA, January 10-12 and 24.

· Bob and Marie Hertzler announce the birth of their first great-grandson, Nathaniel Vaughn, born to Alison Hertzler January 11, 2005.   He weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz.  Grandparents are Tony and Kathy Hertzler of Powhatan.

· Andy and Amanda Powell have switched houses with Kristie and Scott Cloud.   Their new addresses are as follows:

· Marie Hertzler has retired from the Powhatan Rescue Squad after volunteering eighteen years and  logging 1700 calls.  Thanks, Marie.

 

New Sunday School Opening Format

The year 2005 started with a major change in our Sunday School opening format.  In an effort to create a more welcoming atmosphere, coffee/juice and doughnuts/muffins are served at 9:30 a.m.   At 9:45 there is an opening for the children in the main auditorium, and five minutes later the adults  go directly to their Sunday School classes.

     

Care Group Shenanigans

The Nowlins’ care group celebrated Carolyn Nowlin’s and Paige Spiller’s  birthday with a pie, candles, Happy Birthday song and ….just being a little silly.

Will these hungry lions eat Daniel?

 

Emily Hertzler and Delaney Broughton learned in their Sunday School class recently that God sent an angel to close the lions mouth.

Bring God’s Word to Life Ministries

The stunning 7’x 13.9’ mural by Sheila Schaefer has been hanging in our fellowship hall for the last two weeks and will soon be taken to Bring God’s Word to Life Ministries in Southside Richmond.

 The mural depicts the vision that the people of BGWLM have for the future of the work God has given them.  Sheila’s work is inspired and  essence of the work of the ministry.

· Pedal the Peninsula Bike Ride (choose a 10, 20, 32 or 50 mile ride) will be held May 7.

· Golf  Classic will he held May 17.

· 2nd Annual Benefit Banquet is scheduled for September 18 at the Point Plaza Hotel in Newport News.  Duane Yoder, Pastor at Lindale Mennonite Church will be the guest speaker.

· Music Weekend is scheduled for October 28-30
