Powhatan Coalition of Churches

The Coalition has been chosen as the organization for the month of January by the Thrifty Quaker. They have a "second-hand" store in the Midlothian Station Shopping Center and give their profits after expenses to organizations such as ours each month.

They need people to donate good condition "garage sale" type items to them. When you drop off items to them be sure that you tell them you are donating them in the name of the Coalition of Powhatan Churches. This has be done in the month of January. Whatever we take, when they sell it we get the benefits.

Also we are having a very important meeting on January 22nd, 7:00 PM at the Powhatan Village Building (old high school) dealing with beginning a support group here in Powhatan for people who find themselves in the position of caregivers. We would like as many people who are interested and each church to be represented there. The churches will have a big role to play in this project. We have a representative coming from the Alzheimer's Association of Greater Richmond to give guidance on starting such a group.
